Description

{"ops":[{"insert":"Hey there!\n\nArchiveNode.io is an initiative by Hunter (DeFi Dude) and Chase (MysticRyuujin) to create an easy way to access archive node data on Ethereum.\n\nOriginally Hunter realized the barrier to running an archive node on Ethereum (5TB+ in SSD space!) and wanted to do something about it, but didn't know enough to really get anything done.\n\nFrom that point he reached out to Chase as well as the Ethereum Foundation, Chase because he is a node and networking mastermind, and Ethereum Foundation because a grant was needed to get things off the floor.\n\nAfter some time the EF had agreed to offer us a very generous grant in AWS credits, allowing us to spin up an archive node in the cloud to offer users. This was better than nothing at first, but was burning through over $800+ a month alone in credits - so we knew it wasn't sustainable.\n\nFrom that point, Dan from PieDAO had reached out and kindly offered to sponsor us the money to run 1-2 more archive nodes/month, still in the cloud - but luckily not with AWS so it was magnitudes cheaper.\n\nThis was very generous and to this day Dan is still supporting our project as a whole (with the AWS credits on the backburner), but once again, this is not sustainable, and we cannot rely on Dan to pay our bills.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"We are creating this grant in hopes to deploy physical hardware capable of supporting archive nodes."},{"insert":"\n\nThe ideal setup would be to have us running at least two physical hardware nodes operating out of separate locations. The second for redundancy. This puts our operating costs to a minimum (only electricity) and also allows for the project to remain much more sustainable in the future.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"So, what is the purpose of ArchiveNode.io?"},{"insert":"\n\nWe want to benefit the Ethereum community by offering developers and the likes access to archive nodes for education, development, research, whatever - without having to break the bank. Right now, they're looking to pay upwards of ~$1,500+ (more if they expect redundancy) for an archive node, otherwise they have the option of paying Infura $250/month. We realize this isn't right, nor affordable for small time devs - which is the purpose we serve.\n\nWe charge nothing for a developer to utilize our archive nodes.\n\nTo date, we have received over 100 requests for archive node access, majority of which have been accepted.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"We would very much appreciate any and all support on our grant, in hopes to fund physical hardware for our project!"},{"insert":"\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Thank you."},{"insert":"\n"}]}
