ConsenSys, through their hiring of implementers in PegaSys and the Ethereum Foundation, through their hiring of various researchers and implementers, are already covering the bulk of the development costs for this EIP. Funds from the community will serve two main purposes:"},{"insert":"\n\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent","color":"#000000"},"insert":"First, they enable us to cover expenses related to development and testing of this change that are not covered by either ConsenSys or the Ethereum Foundation. Specifically, the Vulcanize team working on the Geth implementation would be intended recipients of this grant."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"Specification Audits:"},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"The need for a formal analysis of the blockspace & fee market improvements specifications has been brought up several times when discussing EIP-1559 and other alternatives. If no one with relevant skills can volunteer such an analysis, we will likely use funds from the grant to pay for one."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"Bounties:"},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"Funding smaller tasks through bounties that do not justify a full grant cycle as well as encouraging participation from the community will be explored as a possible use of this fund. Some examples included, incentivizing testnet participation, bug bounties, wallet reference implementations.  "},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"Other Testing or Development Work:"},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent"},"insert":"Changing the fee market on Ethereum is one of the largest changes being planned for Eth1 to date. It will require extensive testing, including potentially new testnets and/or private “ephemeral testnets”. Funds from the grant may be used to pay for development work or computation costs associated with such activities."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent","color":"#000000"},"insert":"How we will administer the funds"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"transparent","color":"#000000"},"insert":"Funds will be administered by people familiar with the progress of the work and who will *not* be direct recipients of them. Current administrators include Tim Beiko (PegaSys), James Hancock (Ethereum Foundation), Dan Finlay (MetaMask), and Pooja Ranjan (Ethereum Cat Herders).
