You can manually add leaves to a tree and add an identical property twice. When generating the tree, we should check for any duplicates and throw an error if there are any present. This should apply both for the literal & compact property of the leaves.
1) Add code to catch the error and return it.
2) Create two test cases that add two conflicting properties to a tree (one where just the compact property conflicts and one where the literal property conflicts) and make sure the tree can't be generated.
