[Discourse](https://www.discourse.org/) is a popular forum platform. It lets users participate in discussions. Some of the "topics" can be restricted to certain categories of users only. It even has the ability to integrate with [tools like Patreons and Memberful](https://www.discourse.org/integrations#crowdfund).
[Unlock](https://unlock-protocol.com) is a protocol for membership that lets any creator easily monetize their content in a frictionless way by letting them deploy "locks" (smart contracts) and then sell keys (NFT) to unlock the content or features that the creator wants to charge for access.
We need a [Discourse plugin](https://www.discourse.org/plugins) to make it really easy for creators using Discourse to lock some topics and make them accessible to members only.
- As the owner of a Discourse site, I want to limit access to some topics so that only my lock's members can view these threads. Alternatively, I also want to limit access to some topics so that only members can publish in these topics (read only!).
- As the visitor to a Discourse site, I am not able to view the locked topics (or not able to participate) unless I own a valid key for the corresponding lock(s).
- As a visitor, if I do not own a key, the site has a button that lets me purchase one.
