ETHDenver is arguably the best time of the year (that is if you’re a fan of Colorado and Ethereum). As you may know, Gitcoin was founded and built in Colorado, and we do indeed love Ethereum, so for us, the EthDenver weekend is kind of like our Birthday and Christmas combined. We had a blast with you at ETHDenver 2019, running experiments, games, and more. We’re planning to make 2020 even bigger and better, but we need your help to do so!
With February quickly approaching, we’re excited to share the rundown of events and initiatives Gitcoin has going on. We’re running our own virtual hackathon beforehand, leading up to the Sustain Web3 conference on-site at the Sports Castle, and will have interactive games at our booth all weekend. Read on to learn how you can Git your Coins at ETHDenver, whether those coins are ERC-20 hackathon prizes, or ERC-721 non-fungible tokens (aka Kudos). And yes, the Plinko board will be back.
Gitcoin’s number 1 mission is to grow, fund, and sustain open-source software. To that end, we are incredibly excited to host the Sustain Web3 Conference during BUIDL Week with Monadic and Sustain. As we start envisioning Web3, sustaining free and open-source software is more important than ever – and more realistic. We’re gathering technologists, economists, maintainers, and hackers who think Web3 is A New Hope™ for free and open-source software.
Join us for a one-day gathering to discuss active initiatives, learn from industry luminaries, and start designing the future of Web3 sustainability. The event will be held on February 13th starting at 9 am, at the same venue as ETHDenver, the Sports Castle. We are happy to share the space with DAOFest, so feel free to check out both events (if you can’t find us, keep walking upstairs!).
This event is 100% free to attend with a “pay-what-you-can” donation model. The goal is to stick to traditional FOSS values and fund this event by and for the community, so we’re collecting donations through a Gitcoin Grant. For those who can’t make it in person, we’ll also be live-streaming the event on our Youtube. Check out the speakers and sign up as an attendee (or apply to be a speaker) here.
In true Gitcoin fashion, to accommodate our digital and global community, we’ll also be running a two-week virtual hackathon called Sustain Web3 from 1/29 through 2/12 ahead of the physical event. The theme and goal is the same – building technology and tools to help support and grow the open-source software ecosystem. We’ll have a number of bounties and prizes up for grabs catering to a variety of skillsets and difficulties. Best of all, you don’t have to be attending Sustain Web3 or ETHDenver to participate. We will, however, showcase our favorite submissions on stage, so if you submit a project and happen to be in Denver, we’d love to see you in person!
Finally, the main event: ETHDenver 2020. The Gitcoin squad will be rolling deep, with team members in full force on site for all 3 days. If you saw our booth last year, you’ll know it won’t be hard to find us. Look out for the giant Plinko board along with mountains of swag. Drop by any time, we love seeing old faces and meeting new ones. We’re happy to provide advice on your hackathon projects, answer any questions about Gitcoin, give you ski resort recommendations, or simply to chat!
The Plinko board will be your gamified way to win Gitcoin swag, and we’ll be handing out plenty of new and exclusive stickers to meme-ify your experience. Expect some ETHDenver themed Quests and Kudos for you to enjoy as well. We’ll also be participating in the ETHDenver XP and badges DAO game, so stay tuned for more information on how to complete Gitcoin missions. Finally, we’ve built a custom Bufficorn avatar builder into our application. Show the world what your spirit animal Bufficorn would look like!
