I’ve always thought Open Source is amazing. I stumbled upon Gitcoin in December on reddit. The thread was any projects who were all about helping grow the open source community. Enter Gitcoin.
I checked Gitcoin out and fell in love with the idea. You get to network, solve real world problems, learn from folks who are smarter than you and make money on the side.
I spent about 4 months as an active community member, contributing to front-end, design, and architecture conversations in Gitcoin’s open source community and working on bounties.
One of my bigger contributions was the front-end refresh of Gitcoin’s Issue Explorer. I worked closely with core team member Alisa March to bring her design to life.
After I completed enough bounties, I realized I actually loved the product and started helping with PR reviews & helping onboard new users. Eventually I pinged Gitcoin founder Kevin Owocki about a potential role on the core team, and here we are today!
In terms of my coding interests more generally, I love dabbling around with CSS + JS. Have a soft corner for python + NoSQL databases. I’ve built a few pet applications and open sourced them cause that’s always fun!
That said, it’s always exciting to pick up something new. I’ve got Solidity, Hyperledger, and IPFS on the list.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, sharing music, and nerd talk.
I’m looking forward to working with the team, helping the community, picking up new things, and taking a stab at achieving true OSS (while annoying Mark Beacom).
If you ever wanna discuss tech/music/anime/gaming/cooking, hit me up on Twitter / Github / Slack @thelostone-mc.
Let’s Grow Open Source together!
